Music: “Sneakin’ Around” by B.B. King
In this series, we will learn choreography & costuming for “Sneakin’ Around”.
Full of sass (ass) and attitude, it’s our theatrical “breakup” routine!
Smoldering eyes, slow burn sass and attitude, posing, “runway” strut, sharp movements, creative drama in small movements… and tassel twirling!
LEVEL 1: Open to all levels. No experience necessary!
LEVEL 2 (Refinement & Costuming): Prerequisite: Must have completed Level 1
LEVEL 3 (Performance Preparation / Staging): Prerequisite: Must have completed Level 2
Led by Mynx d’Meanor
“DEEP” Chair Dance
Levels 2A – 2B – 3
Music: “Deep” by Marian Hill
In this series, we will learn choreography for “Deep”– a *NEW* ultra sexy chair dance duet that will make the audience sweat!
We will work on intermediate/advanced chair dance moves, dramatic poses, intimate partnering, and sultry stocking peels.
This series starts at LEVEL 2, due to more advanced chair moves and intimate partnering.
PREREQUISITE: Must be comfortable with intermediate chair work (think: full 30-second straight-arm plank to gauge minimum core strength) and more importantly, willingness to get up close and personal with your fellow dancers. 😉
For “old school” returning students: Think of “Deep” as the flipside to the “Sneakin’ Around” narrative.
LEVEL 2A: See prerequisite above.
LEVEL 2B (Refinement): Prerequisite: Must have completed Level 2A
LEVEL 3 (Performance Preparation / Staging) – Prerequisite: Must have completed Level 2B
Led by Mynx d’Meanor
Head instructor Mynx d’Meanor is a lifelong dancing dork, with over a decade of dance and burlesque performance experience encompassing disciplines such as ballroom, bellydance, “freestyle”/hiphop, and jazz/swing.
Mynx specializes in teaching “everyday people” how to dance and incorporate burlesque influences into their daily lives– having taught hundreds of women and men in addictive classes and workshops since 2009.
Mynx is heavily influenced and inspired by the choreography and dance stylings of Busby Berkeley, Jack Cole, Bob Fosse, Gene Kelly, Cyd Charisse and other “greats” of Broadway and MGM musicals. We incorporate these influences in our approach to teaching burlesque fundamentals and dance choreography.
As director of Fishnet Follies, Mynx d’Meanor creates theatrical, Busby Berkeley-inspired choreography, presented in innovative ways that are relevant to modern audiences.
Special workshops led by guest instructors as announced.
Previous guest instructors include international burlesque superstars: Catherine D’Lish, Coco Lectric, Kitten DeVille, Red Bone, MisRed Delicious, Ophelia Coeur de Noir, Tito Bonito, Mariel a la Mode, Major Suttle-Tease, and more!
Contact us via email at email@example.com or call Mynx d’Meanor at 415.300.0976.
A sultry tribute to the supper clubs of the Prohibition Era! We will use solo jazz dance elements, work on dramatic poses, strong character/presence, partnering, and group formations.
Feathers will fly in this high-energy Jazz Age routine! We’ll learn the Charleston, jazz steps, and feather boa work in Busby Berkeley-inspired chorus line formations. Very cute and sassy Flapper girl styling!
Our most classic group routine. Showgirl styling, elegant movements, smooth transitions, and the flirty flutter of feather fans.
“JUST A GIGOLO”
In this series, we will learn choreography for “Just A Gigolo”– a *NEW* suit and tie routine tailored for men and women of burlesque!
Inspired by the infamous striptease scene by Christopher Walken in “Pennies from Heaven”. Choreographed by reigning Burlesque Hall of Fame King of Boylesque Harden Reddy and Fishnet Follies director Mynx d’Meanor. We will use solo jazz dance elements, strong character/presence, group formations, and a couple of hat tricks!
Break out those fedoras!
